SEE IT: Arrest of Accused Long Island Serial Killer Caught on Camera

New video shows the moment police swarmed accused Gilgo Beach serial killer Rex Heuermann on a busy Manhattan street and arrested him.

Security camera footage obtained by the Daily Mail shows Heuermann walking along Fifth Avenue near East 36th Street carrying a work bag around 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

The video was recorded near Heuermann’s Fifth Avenue office, where he ran an architectural business.

Suddenly, multiple men in suits appear in front of the 59-year-old and stop him. Within seconds, other police officers follow up from behind to encircle the suspect, who is approximately 6-foot-4 and weighs upwards of 240 pounds.

Surveillance video obtained by NBC New York captured Heuermann walking just before the arrest. He appears to be unaware that just behind him are three law enforcement officers – described as detectives – who are moments away from detaining him and placing him under arrest.

The detectives are seen in the video wearing dark suits and appear seconds after Heuermann passes by.

Steve Kramberg, one of Heuermann’s colleagues, said he spoke to the accused serial killer on Thursday evening and that he was making jokes, according to The New York Times.

“That must have been right before he left the office and they arrested him,” Kramberg told the Times.

Authorities allege that Heuermann made multiple calls from his Manhattan office using burner phones to arrange meetings with potential victims and used victims’ phones to call their families and taunt them.

Heuermann has pleaded not guilty to three counts of first- and second-degree murder in connection with the deaths of three women whose remains were found buried in burlap-like sacks on Long Island in 2010.

The 59-year-old is also the prime suspect in the murder of a fourth woman whose remains were also found.
